Using this screen, it is possible to insert books onto the database from a
pre-prepared file. The number of items you can submit using this method depends
on your User Limit (click here for details of
how to increase your User Limit).
Once your file has been uploaded, you will be able to make
amendments to individual book details using the 'Update Booklist' facility. If
you need to make more substantial changes you can unload your booklist to a file
where you can make amendments and then load it back (refer to the hyperlink
below, right for instructions).

The upload should take no more than a few minutes - please be
patient. The items will then be read from the file in batches of up to 50
and will then be displayed for you to review, and if necessary amend.
The input file should be in plain text format and will contain the following
data on each line. Each field on the line should be separated by a single
<Tab> character.

A code numbered between 1 and 32. See table, below. |
| Author Surname |
Length of surname must not exceed 50 characters |
| Author Initials |
Combined Length of surname and initials must not exceed 50
characters |
| Book Title |
Length of book title must not exceed 75 characters |
| Year |
If entered, this must be a valid four character year e.g.
1874, 2001 etc. |
| Description |
Length of book description must not exceed 90 characters. If
a Year is entered, you need notinclude it in the description. |
| Price |
Length of price must not exceed 15 characters. This is in
text format e.g. £32.50, $27.50, P.O.A. etc. |
| Location of Picture |
Length of location of picture must not exceed 90 characters.
You can point to the location of a .GIF or .JPG file on your own web site
or on an auction site which you have submitted the picture to. Use the
full address which may commence "http://" or "www".

Possible ways to set up the file:
- Create it using a spreadsheet (e.g. EXCEL) and save it as a 'Tab'
separated text file.
- Create a table in a Word processing document (e.g. WORD). Use the tool
which converts the table to text, choosing the option to separate text with
tabs. Save the result as a text file.
